I am running QNX at work. I wanted to install QNX at home, so let’s set up a gateway. Anytime I have traffic on eth1 at the gateway the kernel freezes – grml. No network on the old computer, a fast try running QNX inside VMWare was not successfull (ok, I found another QNX-ISO designed for VMWare I could try once) I delete my /data on the laptop (backup via ssh on server) and want to install QNX on /dev/hda1 on my laptop. Booting QNX…. argl – doesn’t work. Ok, try some other bootparameters – ok, no chance to get QNX working with networking :(
Because I am going to set up 2.6.0-test9 on my server I could change from cisco-vpn to PPTP – maybe I can activate the gateway then for running QNX behind.

Thomas Winkler found out that there exists a cisco-vpn-client which should work with linux 2.6.0-kernels. I test it on my laptop and – it works! So I also activate the 2.6.0-test9 also on my workstation/server – but my mouse doesn’t work then as it should – damn!
$ uname -a Linux tweety 2.6.0-test9 #3 Sun Nov 23 14:55:21 CET 2003 i686 GNU/Linux
Our cat Rubeo had something like an epileptic, algospasm attack. Some more details are available on my Rubeo-Webpage (german only, sorry).
Argl, on my account statement are some charges of 11 cents for “fremde PSK-Gebühr” (my girlfriend transfered money to my account). I went to BA/CA a week ago and tried to get more details about the fee of 11 cents. The chief promised me to call me if she has some more details about it…. Of course nobody called me… so I went to the bank again… langer rede kurzer sinn, as we german-speaking say: Bankaustria/Creditanstalt sucks.
Update: Martin Brugger sent me a link to a short article from konsument.at (german only).
And I wanted to check my account via online-banking, for the german-speaking people check out (summary: online-banking did’nt work):

Argl, I have tried several kernels and settings with hdparm because my computer could not drive at any mode faster than udma2. Accessing the more detailed BIOS-Settings via Ctrl+F1 (Gigabyte 8KNXP-Board) and setting modes manually (not cable-select) fixed the problem. grml….
grml:/home/mika# hdparm -i /dev/hda /dev/hdb /dev/hdc /dev/hdd | grep udma UDMA modes: udma0 udma1 udma2 udma3 udma4 *udma5 udma6 UDMA modes: udma0 udma1 udma2 udma3 udma4 *udma5 UDMA modes: udma0 udma1 *udma2 UDMA modes: udma0 udma1 udma2 udma3 udma4 *udma5 grml:/home/mika#

Marianne and me took our cat called Rubeo to the veterinarian. I was afraid of some troubles with Rubeo but he didn’t cause any disasters ;) Rubeo has fleas and tapeworms and so he got some medicine. More details on Rubeo are available online: www.michael-prokop.at/rubeo/ (only in german – sorry).
Win2k3 sucks that much (ok, I don’t tell news), but at least netcraft’s web-server-survey shows that not all people are stupid enough to use IIS as a webserver.

I have to set up a firewall (bridged network – transparent firewall). I am using a Debian-based distribution from Austria (no, not where the kangaroos live ;)) called Gibraltar. Main documentation can be found in the mailinglist-archiv, Rene Mayrhofer from Gibraltar writes really nice and helpfull stuff. Gibraltar is really a great piece of Software! I should take some ideas for my own project called grml.
Someone in the TU-Graz-Newsgroups mentioned isync, a tool for synchronizing a remote IMAP mailbox with a local maildir-style mailbox. I should check this out because my mailsetup is IMAP and maildir ;).
My weblog is online ;)
