(Not really) Revisiting 2018
Mainly to recall what happened last year and to give thoughts and planning for upcoming year(s) I usually revisit the last year (previous years: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013 + 2012).
But the end of 2018 and beginning of 2019 were quite stressful (mainly business wise) and I was lacking time and motivation to actually sit down and blog something™. Then I wanted to finally migrate from WordPress to Hugo and started to look into the migration but got stuck for all kinds of reasons (no really nice™ theme, the more useful themes all using a bunch of foreign hosted stuff (meh) and finally some fiddling with broken URLs and further technical minor annoyances) that made me postpone any blogging. Since I had some blog articles in the queue that I wanted to actually publish, I decided to stay at WordPress for the time being and look into migrating to something like Hugo at a later point in time.
So I’m not really revisiting 2018 but just publishing what was stuck in my drafts since the middle of 2018. :)
Events:
- Was invited to give a talk about Best Practices in IT-Administration at Infracoders-Graz
- Attended Grazer Linuxdays 2018 and gave a talk there
- Attended DebConf18 in Hsinchu, Taiwan/Asia
Personal:
- Read ~one book per month on average, which is once again below my targets (the books I recall are “Was man von hier aus sehen kann” (Mariana Leky), Monitoring with Prometheus (James Turnbull), “Why We Sleep: The New Science of Sleep and Dreams (Matthew Walker)” and “Die Stunde zwischen Frau und Gitarre” (Clemens Setz), while Clemens’ book really brought me back into book reading habits!)
Conclusion: nothing to complain about :)
