FreeBSD 5.2.1 does not boot from CD

“Could not find Primary Volume Descriptor” – grml.

“The 5.x bootable install CDs no longer use floppy-emulation mode. The change was made because some newer machines do not support this
emulation mode. However, older machines may not be able to boot CDs in “native” (non-emulation) mode. We can’t support everybody, so we
support the new machines.” — http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-current/2004-March/024505.html

Also QNX does not work on this computer… grml!

Well, you can boot and install via floppies, which is still the way i install most of my machines if i can find two non-broken floppies.
Or don’t you have floppy drive either?

well, when I wanted to install FreeBSD I’ve had no (working) floppy drive, now I found a working one and tomorrow I’ll check this (using an older FreeBSD-version should work also but I had no ISO)

notice: ‘tomorrow’ because I check old hardware at work this week, and I’m sure I’ll find enough working stuff for running a FreeBSD and another BSD-box (OpenBSD?). any (other) recommendations? :-)
