ms-sys ist ein praktisches Tool für Leute, die gerade keine Windows-CD zur Hand haben, aber den Windows-Bootrecord neu schreiben wollen (AKA ‘fdisk /mbr’):

This is a Linux program for writing Microsoft compatible boot records. The program does the same as Microsoft “fdisk /mbr” to a hard disk or “sys d:” to a floppy or FAT partition except that it does not copy any system files, only the boot record is written.

Die folgende Option ist jene, die ich meistens benötige:

-m, --mbr       Write a Windows 2000/XP/2003 MBR to device

Mit einem einfachen:

# ms-sys -m /dev/hda

ist das Windows-System auch wieder bootfähig. Selbstverständlich findet man ms-sys auf der Besten aller Live-CDs. ;-)
